2. Verify PTO Speed and Hitch Category Match Your Implements

A 100HP tractor is only as useful as the implements it can run, and PTO specs differ between the two 100HP platforms. The TE1004 runs a 540/760 rpm PTO on a 6-spline shaft with a single-action clutch. The TB1004 runs a 540/720 rpm PTO on an 8-spline shaft with a dual-action clutch, which typically lets the operator stop ground travel while keeping the PTO shaft turning — useful for stationary PTO work like pumps or stationary threshers.

Before you order, check your implement’s required PTO speed and spline count against these numbers — a mismatch means the implement either won’t engage or will run at the wrong speed. Hitch category matters just as much: the TE1004 pairs with Category 1 three-point hitch implements, while the TB1004’s heavier frame steps up to Category 2, which accepts larger, heavier-duty implements than Category 1 allows.
